Based on my personal experience as a DET at L&T Construction and insights gathered from fellow engineers

After receiving a provisional selection letter from L&T Construction, one of India’s largest construction companies, candidates must undergo a Pre-Employment Medical Check-up (PEMC). Having gone through this process myself in 2022 and observing others’ experiences through 2023-24, I’ll share a comprehensive guide to help future candidates prepare better.

Timeline from Selection to Joining (2023)

Let me first share the timeline of a candidate who joined in 2023 as DET in L&T B&F IC to give you a perspective:

  3. Alternative Action: If you don’t receive a follow-up call from medibuddy, email your HR representative about the missed medical appointment call

  1. Preparation:
    • Schedule early morning appointment for fasting tests
    • Wear comfortable, easily removable clothing
    • Get adequate sleep the night before
  2. During the Check-up:
    • Total duration: 2-3 hours

    • Follow all instructions carefully
  3. Post-Examination:
    • No payment is required at the centre
    • Reports go directly to HR
    • Processing typically takes 3-5 working days

What to Do If Asked for Additional Tests

  1. Stay calm – it’s a standard procedure for specific cases
  2. Follow HR’s instructions precisely
  3. Use only registered medical centres
  4. Submit reports promptly
  5. Maintain professional communication

Conclusion

The pre-employment medical check-up at L&T Construction is a well-structured process designed to ensure workplace safety. From my personal experience and observations, the vast majority of candidates clear it without any issues. The key is to be well-prepared and follow instructions carefully.
